Dunedin (Māori: Ōtepoti) is the second-largest city in the South Island of New Zealand, and the principal city of the Otago Region.
It is considered to be one of the four main urban centres of New Zealand for historic, cultural, and geographic reasons. Dunedin was the largest city in New Zealand by population until about 1900 and a centre for commerce. As the country’s oldest city it is home to a wealth of heritage sites including the country’s first University and has been home to many of New Zealand’s most famous literary and arts figures. The discovAR.in/dunedin project is only possible thanks to the time, talent and passion of many, local people and businesses, and the people at HitlabNZ in Christchurch.
Spanning many of Dunedin’s most talented and creative industry sectors this project has been a truly collaborative effort, highlighting our City’s strengths in heritage, arts and technology. Collaboration at this scale provides a testament to Dunedin as a great place to live and work.
